I have been a passionate advocate for our community for nearly 25 years.  This service includes, but is not limited to, the organizations above.  I made my home in the Lincoln District of Tacoma in 2002 and raised my family here as a single mother of two.  As a new resident, I got involved right away in drumming up ideas to advocate for my community.

Some examples of my community work:

• Addressing traffic safety in my neighborhood by working to get a traffic circle installed

• Co-leading my neighborhood group, planning events and bringing neighbors together on various issues

• Volunteering with other neighbors at Lincoln High School for multiple years to support the students in the football program

• Working with city staff and artists to plan and install multiple neighborhood murals

• Collaborating with others to obtain a grant from the city to revitalize multiple neighborhood traffic circles with planting, pai

nting, etc.

• Serving on the Lincoln District Steering Committee for two years with a diverse group to plan for, initiate, and work alongside city government to realize a $7.3 million revitalization in our business district

• Resisting the 2020 County attempt to close our Health Department

• Representing Pierce County as a co-plaintiff in a lawsuit on behalf of the people, in an effort to consolidate county buildings and save taxpayers money

• Staying engaged with and working alongside my elected officials consistently to advocate for various policy efforts and changes

I’ve used community and public advocacy to encourage and advocate for neighbors and neighborhoods to be more connected to government and to the resources that are available to them as residents - and in turn, to make government more accountable to the people - one that works for all.

My 20+ years as a real estate broker has familiarized me with the neighborhoods and people in the Fourth District.  I love real estate because I enjoy advocating for my clients, getting to know new neighborhoods, and learning more about housing needs, the housing market, and how it affects the local economy.  In my Urban Studies program, I focused on community development, neighborhood business districts, economic alternatives for zoning, land use and planning, and learning about engagement processes for residents.

As a proven collaborator, I look forward to bringing forward your voice to the Charter Review Commission.
